Beverly Big Dog Dash October 6th! We still are in need of your help!

Hello Big Dog Families!

The Big Dog Dash is coming up on Thursday October 6th! We are looking forward to a great day, but we definitely cannot do it without your help!  (Those of you who have already signed up, thank you)

Below are descriptions of the volunteer jobs we are looking to fill. Each class will have a designated time of roughly 20 minutes to run. We know all our volunteers want to be able to see their own students run, and if you are able, we'd love for you to stay before and/or after your student's designated time to help assist other classes. Our goal is to have 4-5 volunteers per classroom, as well as a few people who can work the water station, as well as cheering for our runners. Please note, we do not have childcare available for volunteers for this event, however we welcome you to bring your children. Many enjoy seeing the kids run and we love any extra cheerleaders to help encourage our runners.

Volunteers

Set up (5-7 volunteers) (8:30-8:55am): Extra hands in the morning to help with set up of stations, water table, and DJ both to ensure we are prepared when the first set of runners start.

Runners/Lap Markers (2-3/class): Arrival 20 minutes prior to the future specified run time, helping teacher pin lap sheets to backs of students before heading to the track, escorting students to track, mark laps as they come around the track, then assist the teachers removing the lap sheets and depositing in the teacher envelope and return to finish area. Once completed, escort students back to class.

Water Station (2 all day or 4 half day): help to pour water and pass it out the kids at the end of their run time. We are encouraging students to bring their own water bottles but will still need assistance refilling.

Cheer Leaders: Join us in cheering the kids on as they run, walk or jog!

Clean up (5-7 volunteers) (2:30-3pm): Extra hands after the last run group to break everything down and call it a day.

**PLEASE EMAIL VICEPRESIDENT@BEVERLYPTA.ORG WITH YOUR NAME, YOUR STUDENT'S NAME AND CLASS, AND IF YOU ARE ABLE TO STAY FOR MORE THAN YOUR OWN STUDENT'S CLASS.

After you sent an e-mail you will receive a follow up next week with greater detail of your specific job.

The Big Dog Dash is our main fundraiser for the year and the more volunteers we have throughout the day can help to guarantee it's smooth success!! Don't forget to help raise those funds, too!

Thank you again for your interest in helping! We appreciate it!

Big Dog Events 9/24 - 10/1

Dear Beverly families,

We’ve had another great week here at Beverly with our Big Dog Dash Kickoff assembly and our first Beverly PTA General Membership Meeting.  Students are settling in well and teachers are ramping up their instruction. The new drop off spots are starting to help with speed of picking up and dropping off. We are all getting back into a good routine and things are going pretty smoothly. Next week, we have some important events coming up that I wanted to make sure you are aware of:

  • Tomorrow, Saturday, September 24 from 9-11 am our WatchDog Dads are having a Campus Clean Up here at school. They would love to have more hands helping to spruce up our campus if your family is available. At 11, they will be playing a Parents Vs. Kids Kickball game to celebrate all their hard work.
  • On Thursday, September 29th at 9 am we will be holding a Principal’s Coffee Chat on the stage. This will be a more informal opportunity for me to connect with families and for families to connect with one another. Please bring questions or ideas for topics that you’d like to discuss and I hope to see you there!
  • The Foundation for Edmonds School District is holding their annual Celebrate School 5K on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8 am at Alderwood Mall. Schools in the Edmonds School District can earn money by creating teams and having those teams generate pledges.  Schools get to keep 100% of their pledges PLUS they get a share of 50% of the net proceeds.  Teams also are competing for prizes! Schools must have a minimum 20 registered participants to qualify. We would love to at least 20 registered participants so that we qualify to get some of the proceeds and prizes! Please think about registering to help our school. Here is the link to the online registration: Celebrate Schools 5K Online Registration. Even if you are not available to actually do the run that day, we still get credit for your registration so please still consider registering.

Thank you for all you do to support our school and your students. We hope to see you at one of these fun events next week. Have a great weekend!

Family Handbook

Dear Beverly Families,

This year I have a new resource I would like to share with you. We have created a Family Handbook that has tons of information for you about our school. Because this handbook is so long, we are not printing a copy for each family. Instead, I am sending you a link so that you can access it. You can access it by clicking on this link: Family Handbook  We will also be posting a link to it on our website. The handbook has information about the bell schedule, student drop off and pick up, what to do in an emergency, who teaches what grade, the rules and expectations for different areas around the school, and many, many other topics. I hope you will find it helpful as we navigate through this year.
